Carousels, candy canes, bumper cars. What do you think of when you think about city fairs? A fair is a fun annual event for most, and a lifestyle for some. Travelling rides have been a tradition in the Netherlands since the 11th century. Until the 20th century, the rides usually didn’t leave their own province. Making sure rides reached their destination via ships, carts, and horses was a lot more complicated than transporting those same rides via cars or trucks.
